RDK X5 Magicbox Tutorial Project (From 0 to Demo)

This directory contains a set of Chinese practice tutorials for RDK X5 Magicbox. The goal is to enable users to start from unpacking, flashing, and networking, then gradually implement basic peripherals, visual demos, voice, and LLM connections, and further understand how to integrate OpenClaw into the board capabilities.

  1. Unpacking and system preparation
  2. Quick start and basic peripherals
  3. Visual Demo (binocular depth, gestures)
  4. Local voice + LLM native integration
  5. Deployment and integration of OpenClaw on Magicbox
  6. FAQ/known issues/troubleshooting

1. Tutorial Outline

2. Reference implementations to be understood

This tutorial will refer to the capabilities of the following official or open-source implementations multiple times. The complete dependency repositories will not be included in the public directory; readers need to obtain or install the corresponding components according to the chapter instructions.

  • hobot_stereonet
  • magicbox_gesture_interaction
  • magicbox_audio_io
  • magicbox_qwen_llm
  • openclaw
  • sherpa-onnx

The ASR models involved in the voice link may need to be prepared separately. It cannot be assumed that all large files are ready after cloning the repository. The main installation process for OpenClaw on Linux is to first install openclaw@latest, and then execute openclaw onboard --install-daemon.

3. Official Documentation Entry (verified)

4. Reconstructed main line

To properly integrate OpenClaw into the tutorial, the current document is divided into two ability lines:

  1. Magicbox 原生能力线
    • Flashing, networking, basic peripherals, dual eyes, gestures, voice, LLM
  2. 平台扩展能力线
    • Deploy OpenClaw Gateway on Magicbox
    • Connect to remote entry points such as WebChat / Telegram / Feishu
    • Reserve bridge points for local ROS actions, lighting, and voice connections

This ensures that OpenClaw and the native ROS demo on the board are not mixed up, and readers can more clearly distinguish between “original capability verification” and “platform extension integration”.

5. What should be achieved after learning

After reading and completing this topic, the reader should be able to:

  • Complete the flashing, networking, and SSH login of Magicbox;
  • Pass the basic verification for buttons, lights, servos, dual eyes, gestures, voice, and LLM;
  • Identify the expected phenomena, common failure scenarios, and basic rollback methods for each Demo;
  • Understand the bridging role between OpenClaw Gateway and local ROS and script actions;
  • Determine which files can be publicly submitted, and which models, caches, logs, and temporary outputs should not be included in the repository.
